Surgical procedures carry risks, and can cause health issues like bruising, swelling, scarring and even nerve damage (neuropathy). Persistent surgically-induced neuropathic pain (SNPP) is estimated to affect 10–50% of people after operations, with higher rates seen in procedures that involve major nerve disruption, such as mastectomy or joint replacement. The good news is, coMra therapy can help treat the pain of nerve damage and scar tissue at its root, even years after surgery.1

POST-SURGICAL NERVE DAMAGE, KELOIDS & ADHESIONS

Nerve damage is divided into three types:1

  • Damage to the surface of the myelin sheath surrounding the nerve.
  • Damage to neurons (nerve cells).
  • Cutting or tearing of a nerve.

coMra therapy helps in the regeneration of tissue, including nerve tissue, stimulates the transport of nutrients to the injury site and promotes the softening of existing scar tissue. Applying coMra to surgical cuts (or other cuts) as soon as possible after surgery also helps minimise scar formation.1

In addition to post-surgical nerve damage, people may also experience complications like keloids and adhesions:1

  • Keloids are irregular fibrous tissue growths at the site of a surgical cut (or other skin injury). They may be itchy, tender or painful, and tend to be highly visible.
  • Adhesions are bands of scar tissue that form internally between two surfaces inside the body and “stick” them together. Adhesions can cause pain by pulling on the nerves in the organs or tissues, and can cause blockages if they are located in the intestines.

coMra therapy can treat troublesome keloids and adhesions with regenerative effects that support the replacement of fibrous tissue with healthy cells.1

coMra PROTOCOLS FOR POST-SURGICAL NEUROPATHY1,2

  • SURGERY 2: Heals surgical cuts and other traumatic wounds.
  • SURGERY 3: Treats swelling and inflammation of tissue, keloids and adhesions (treatment times can be extended, depending on the nature and size of the keloids or adhesions).
  • NEUROLOGY 17: Treats post-traumatic neuralgia and complex regional pain syndrome.

Example: NEUROLOGY 172

Protocol:

  • Scan affected area for 5 min @ 1000Hz
  • Scan affected area for 5 min @ 50Hz
  • Scan affected area for 5 min @ Variable (V)
  • Scan closest artery for 5 min @ 5Hz

Recommended Course:

  • 1x daily until significant improvement occurs, then continue for 7 days.
  • Allow 2 weeks rest before applying another course.
  • Thereafter repeat if necessary, allowing for rest periods between courses.

coMra therapy helps relieve the pain associated with post-surgical neuralgia, and initiates long-term healing.

“It helped to relieve pain in shoulder and increased range of motion. I am very pleased with the results. I would recommend it.” – Sheila, USA

Note: coMra is a powerful modality. The uses described in our articles are those recommended by the coMra User Guide and apply mainly to home users and use in hospitals. Experience over many years has shown that in the case of most chronic conditions, treatments can also be spread out to once or twice per week, without taking the breaks outlined in the guide.
