HOW WINTER AFFECTS YOUR CIRCULATION
In the cold, your body responds by constricting or narrowing your blood vessels to conserve heat. (This is known as vasoconstriction.) When your blood vessels narrow, less warm blood reaches your extremities. This is why your fingers, toes, nose and ears get cold before other areas.1
When your blood vessels narrow, it takes more force to push blood through your body, which increases your blood pressure. This can be risky for people with hypertension or heart conditions.1
Cold weather also makes your blood thicker or denser, which increases the risk of clotting. This can be a problem for people with existing vascular conditions.1
WATCH OUT FOR THESE SIGNS OF REDUCED CIRCULATION
These symptoms could mean your circulation is slower than normal:2,3
- Cold hands and feet
- Stiff, sore joints
- Muscle cramps or weakness
- Bulging veins
- Numbness or tingling (“pins and needles”) in your hands and feet
- Pale or blueish skin tone on your hands, feet, lips, nose and ears.
On top of cold weather, certain health conditions and lifestyle factors, like diabetes, smoking, lack of exercise and being overweight can also contribute to poor circulation.2

NOTE: coMra is a powerful modality. The uses described above are those recommended by the coMra User Guide. Experience over 10 years has shown that in the case of most chronic conditions, treatments can also be spread out to once or twice per week, without taking the breaks outlined in the guide.
