Discover new insights into the nervous system and how coMra can help. Watch physiotherapist and movement specialist Tom Swales talk about the power of the nervous system.

Healing with Coherence podcast host Michail Tsvetanov recently spoke with physiotherapist and movement specialist Tom Swales about the power of the nervous system. Tom is a physiotherapist, strength coach, movement specialist and educator, recognised for his innovative approach to human movement and injury recovery.

IN CONVERSATION WITH TOM SWALES

Michail and Tom discussed the following key points:1

  • When we feel pain, it’s a message from the nervous system saying, “I need you to pay attention.”
  • When people are in pain and worried about what could be wrong, it’s difficult for them to shift from the sympathetic state (fight, flight, freeze, faint, forget) and the parasympathetic state (rest, digest, recover, remember).
  • When the nervous system feels threatened, it increases muscle tension and reduces mobility. With the right inputs, we can reduce that tension and improve mobility and coordination. Applying the right energies to the body – for example, light therapy and ultrasound therapy – helps the nervous system to shift into a parasympathetic state, so the body can start healing.
  • The muscles can only do what the nervous system tells them to do. Often, the area where the pain is, is not where the problem is – rather, the pain is the result of the nervous system compensating for an issue elsewhere. This compensation can prevent you from moving symmetrically and cause additional strain on a specific area of the body.
  • You can’t supplement your way to good health. 80% of wellness should be focused on the fundamentals – good quality sleep, movement, nutrition, deep breathing, time in nature – while the last 20% can be focused on the more advanced areas of biohacking.
  • The fascial system is highly underrated, but as it attracts more attention and understanding, we’ll gain a deeper knowledge of how we can move better.
  • The nervous system is the ultimate partner in helping us take care of ourselves. We must learn to cooperate with it intelligently.

HOW coMra CAN HELP

coMra not only reduces inflammation and pain at a cellular level, but its actions also help to regenerate nerves. By helping to repair damaged nerves, acute and chronic pain can be healed, as functionality is restored to that area.

However, in addition to localised treatment of the nerves and the resulting relief from pain, there are coMra treatments that work to enhance the operation of the entire nervous system in the body.

For example: UNIVERSAL 4 (Somatic Biostimulation 1) treats physical exhaustion.

UNIVERSAL 5 (Somatic Biostimulation 2) treats emotional exhaustion, as stress, depression, insomnia and adrenal fatigue. In fact, many of the more extensive

coMra treatments available include elements that support and calm the central nervous system, so that the body can be in a parasympathetic state and can heal.

NEPHROLOGY 4, for kidney inflammation and disease, is an excellent example.
