The South African Society of Integrative Medicine (SASIM) is a non-profit network of medical and wellness practitioners who use Integrative Medicine in their practices.1 This experienced community of practitioners supports knowledge-sharing, ongoing education and research to help promote Integrative Medicine in South Africa.1 Low-level-laser therapy (LLLT) is one of several healing modalities.2

LLLT is indicated for many therapeutic uses, including:2,3

  • Pain relief
  • Wound healing
  • Treating soft tissue injuries (including sports injuries)
  • Healing nerve injuries (including neuropathies caused by injuries and illness)
  • Relieving lymphoedema and other tissue swelling (including post-surgical swelling)
  • Improving circulation
  • Treating dental and gum problems
  • Improving skin conditions (including acne, rosacea and psoriasis)
  • Treating disorders affecting internal organs (e.g. lung problems, liver disorders and intestinal conditions)

Low-level laser therapy is safe to use on people of all ages, including babies, children and the elderly, and it’s suitable for humans and animals.2

coMra combines the healing properties of low-level lasers with magnetism, colour LED lights and low-intensity ultrasound.

LLLT can also be effectively combined with other healing modalities. Dr Julienne Fenwick MBChB (Stell), a member of the SASIM Executive Committee, shares her experience:4

Dr Julienne Fenwick“I discovered coMra therapy (Combined Multiple Radiance Therapy) when I did my Integrative Medical training. In my first year of practicing IM, I used the laser on as many people as I could, including family, friends, and myself. I quickly gained insight into how to use this tool to effectively treat everything from pain, inflammation, acne, broken bones to PMS, eczema and migraines.

I started combining coMra therapy with Heel products… using bio-puncture injections first, and then the laser over the affected area(s). The results have been astonishing, with resolution of conditions such as trigger finger, arthritis, spinal disc herniation with impinged nerves to name a few. These conditions were destined for surgery, chronic anti-inflammatory and pain meds or immune suppressant drugs. Most cases saw complete resolution of symptoms after 4-8 weeks.”

In one case, a patient with chronically stiff, sore and swollen finger joints received treatment with coMra and bio-puncture injections (in combination with a holistic anti-inflammatory diet plan). After 8 weeks, the patient’s symptoms were resolved, and they regained abilities that had been lost due to the joint pain – including driving independently and playing the piano.4

NOTE: coMra is a powerful modality. The uses described above are those recommended by the coMra User Guide. Experience over 10 years has shown that in the case of most chronic conditions, treatments can also be spread out to once or twice per week, without taking the breaks outlined in the guide.
